Barack Obama is Right
This is not a political blog. We take no sides in the current election, although in our self-appointed role of consumer advocates we are watching both candidates for ideas and initiatives that will benefit consumers.
Barack Obama’s acceptance speech Thursday night contained references to a theme that is important to consumers, even though I doubt he was thinking about consumers when he made the point that we Americans need to stand together. His point is that we will not be as good or successful individually as we can be working together to drive changes needed in this country. For the sake of argument I will interpret this point from the perspective of frustrated consumers.
The best way we can achieve change as consumers is by sharing information with one and other about companies and small businesses. Word of mouth has always been the best but least efficient way to find good companies to use, or bad ones to avoid. The problem has always been that word of mouth is time consuming – it takes too long to find friends or family members who have experience with a business, a doctor, or an electrician. Fortunately, the internet solves most of these problems.
This is why www.consumerconnection.com was created – to provide a vehicle for consumers to work together to share their experiences with local businesses so informed decisions can be made. Social networking and parties are fine if it encourages users to participate in this process of sharing information. But it’s not why we should share information.
Let’s all do our part to help each other spend our hard-earned dollars wisely. Whether you choose to use www.consumerconnection.com or another ratings and reviews website, log on today and rate a contractor or local business you have recently used. Go ahead, Tell The World.
